There were plenty of cakes, cookies, and cupcakes just waiting to be tasted at Canada’s Sweets and Baking Show. According to the owner of Hamilton’s Glendale Bakery, there’s a new trend for desserts.“Baking is going towards the foodie customer who really wants to try something different it’s not your regular cupcake anymore it is something different,” says Jacqueline JnosevicPastry chef Grayson Sherman says doughnuts are a new trend.“Right now the trends is doughnuts seems to be the new cupcake. Canadians eat more doughnuts per capita than any other country in the world.”To honour the doughnut they held the great Canadian gourmet doughnut challenge, where 3 Canadian doughnut experts competed to claim the top prize of grand gourmet doughnut.The winner: a pralines doughnut from Emma’s Country Kitchen located in Toronto.“The praline one it was a great donut.
