Pune: Independent legislator Bacchu Kadu was arrested in Nashik on Monday for allegedly misbehaving with the Nashik Municipal Commissioner, Abhishek Krishna, and attempting to assault him.A case under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), among others, was lodged against the legislator from Amravati district and his supporters at the Sarkarwada police station in Nashik.Mr. Kadu and several of his supporters created a ruckus in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) at noon over the civic body’s alleged failure to implement the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995. The legislator and his followers, operating under his social outfit Prahaar Sanghatana, raised slogans against the NMC. When he was granted an audience with Mr. Krishna, the talk degenerated into a heated verbal argument. A scuffle ensued, and the MLA allegedly tried to physically assault the NMC Commissioner.The police were called in to impose order. Deputy Commissioner Haribhau Phadol said Mr. Kadu’s actions would be investigated.
